Built for working professionals, our M.Arch program is ideal for individuals who wish to pursue licensure and hone their skills, while continuing to work. Our program is one of only four M.Arch programs accredited by the prestigious National Architecture Accreditation Board (NAAB) and offered online.

Our online format is:

  • Convenient - study when and where you want; the program can be completed almost entirely online.
  • Collaborative - work with professionals employed at the largest firms in the region.
  • NAAB Accredited – one of only four M. Arch programs that can be taken online.
  • Affordable – the most affordable NAAB accredited program offered online.

As a nationally renowned program focused on teaching, our faculty believe in student-centered learning. We keep classes small and coursework challenging but manageable.

We offer two program formats, depending on your background:

Critical Practice Studio

Aligning with our principles of theoretical practice, the online M.Arch program is coupled with a Critical Practice Studio, which is completed over the summer and is the only course not available online. During this summer session, you'll join us on campus for four hands-on weekend sessions where you'll practice applying the knowledge you've learned throughout the program.

It’s interactive — We believe the best learning environments are collaborative in nature. That’s why we encourage our online students to engage with their faculty and fellow classmates, and we provide resources and opportunities to ensure engagement and collaborative learning.

It includes “real time” critiques — Receiving timely feedback from instructors is a critical part of what makes our classes successful. You’ll receive real-time critiques and feedback from your professors.

It’s intimate — You’ll never feel like a number in a classroom. We keep our classes small to avoid the “big box education” feel.

It blends the best of online and in-class — LTU is one of only four nationally accredited M.Arch programs that can be completed almost entirely online. As an online student, you are completing the same program as students in our M.Arch program on campus.

"LTU's M.Arch program has pushed me to do some of my best and most thoughtful design work. I appreciate that the online option provides the same body of knowledge as the on-campus studio, especially with the intelligent professors. The online program gives me more flexibility with my career outside of school and the freedom to live away from the main campus."

"As a business owner, LTU's online M.Arch provided me the flexibility to fulfill my lifelong goal of obtaining a Master's degree without disrupting my business. The curriculum, faculty, and facilities far exceeded my expectations. I appreciate the global reach of the program, which introduced me to students and architecture from around the world."

Master of Architecture for individuals with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture

Individuals with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from a NAAB accredited institution will have already completed many of the educational requirements to become a licensed Architect. Our program complements your undergraduate education with 47 additional credit hours of advanced architectural coursework.

3+ year Master of Architecture for individuals without a Bachelor of Science in Architecture

Individuals with an undergraduate degree other than a Bachelor of Science in Architecture may still earn a Master of Architecture and become a licensed Architect. All licensed Architects must have completed a specific set of architectural coursework which our program fully covers. Depending on your academic background, you may be exempt from some classes.
